Ticking things off my to do list...

So last month for my birthday I created a list of 44 things to do before I turn 45.  I've been busy crossing things off my list.  I just got back from a wonderful vacation with my daughter Kyra, her friend Leah and her mom Deb. 

Regardless of the rating given to the trip by a 12 year old (in a bad mood).  It was really a trip we will all remember for a long time to come.

For Good: Music Heals the Brain

A few months back we posted about an amazing little girl named Maggie Lee Henson and the "For Good" campaign which inspired thousands to perform one act of kindness in her honor. One group of 7th graders took their good deed above and beyond. 

On behalf of their late teammate Maggie Lee, the Medlin Middle School Destination Imagination team from Trophy Club, TX decided to reach out to their community with music for their good deed.

Maggie Lee was in a coma after suffering brain injury following a bus accident. While in a coma, Maggie Lee's parents played music for her which brought her blood pressure closer to normal. This inspired the team, they wanted to want to help other children with brain injuries through music therapy.

On October 29, what would have been Maggie Lee's 13th birthday, the team held a fundraiser for iPods, ear phones, and itunes gift cards to donate to the local hospital to be used for music therapy. In a day, the team was able to collect and donate 50 Mp3 players, 133 ear buds, and $345 in ITunes gift cards to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.

2 Weeks ago they posted this on their blog...which was their third donation!

Our team recently donated to Our Childrens House Baylor. We donated $750 in CD's, CD player's, CD holder's an i-pod nano, a docking station, and blank CD's to burn the songs onto! We got to meet two patients with injuries and they told us about their music therapy experiences. We had a blast! Check out some of the pictures of our donation!!

Jewelry sightings...

 

There is probably nothing I love more than jewelry sightings out and about and being worn by people I meet or see around town...or in this case....on the way to and in New York. 

What I love about it is seeing that someone likes my jewelry enough to wear it.  I feel like Sally Fields when she won the Oscar.  "You like me, you really like me"

I saw a woman wearing my pewter treasures designs on the plane to NY on Thursday.  I didn't talk to her or find out where she got the necklace.  But, I had one of my BEST sightings ever in NY yesterday at the National Stationery show. 

I was in my booth and a woman stopped by to look at the jewelry, then realized it was mine.  She was wearing two of my Identity Bracelets.  She told me the story of how she was buying them for her girls when they grow up.  She was pregnant and is still trying to decide which design to get this new girl on the way.  She was so sweet and it was so wonderful to hear her personal story and connection to my jewelry.  This is really why I make inspirational jewelry!  

Heidi...thanks again for sharing your story with me. I pray you have a easy rest of your pregnancy and will share picture of your little girl when she's born!

Fieldtrip fun!

Yesterday my son's class came to visit and make some goodies for their mom's and dad's for Mothers day and Fathers day. 

We had all of the supplies organized for them.

They each had a time card for them to punch in and check off all of their "jobs" for the visit.

All of the stations we set up for them.  The new studio is so great for setting up lots of places to work.

Extra charms and chains so they could make themselves something too!

After they stamped out the mom and dad charm they added on a few pewter charms to each design.
