We were totally late in our schedule and a bit over budget moving in. But the rooms are almost completely done for the kids.
We expect to move in early December....We moved in the December 18th.
The projects were a bit of a mess. When we decided to build loft beds for the kids before we moved in....of course being a creative person I wouldn't be happy with just any 2 x 4 lofts in my kids rooms....
Soooooo.....
Kyra got a stone cottage set in a magical field of flowers and butterflies. Thanks to Grandpa and Grandma for the cedar shingles. Who figured they don't sell them as roofing in California anymore...fire hazard.
The great thing about the lofts is how much extra space the kids have in their rooms.
With some of that space we were able to fit a lounger under the lofts....just perfect for sleepover. A desk and bookcases too.
The magical garden....
Nik ended up wanting a Millenium Falcon Loft bed and a star wars theme room....
I put my foot down when Jim said he wanted a full scale version of it.....so we cut it off a bit....I didn't want to be hitting my head on it every day. I still haven't painted the cockpit design (yep...it's a garden pot..AKA cockpit)
Yoda sits on top of the Millenium Falcon. OK...I'm REALLY not a fan of guns, but Nik got Han Solos lazer gun for Xmas and he was pretty excited.
This is the asteroid field that Han Solo flies through...."Never tell me the odds" You would never know that the bean bag holds all of Nik's stuffed animals. And the other Asteroid in the background is a toy box.
It was a lot of hard work getting the rooms together, but it was well worth it since the kids love them so much.
When I finished putting the shingles on Kyra's loft she jumped up and down an squealed as only a 10 year old girl can....
Nik wrote me a secret note with a pop up in it...
It said "Mom thanks for making my room so cool" with an extra "thank you" on the pop up.
What more can a creative mom ask for other than appreciation for my crazy creativity!
